CONTEXT
Historical
The people of North America and around the world are increasingly concerned
with environmental issues. This awareness is manifested by changes in consumer behaviour such as a marked interest in green
products, waste reduction, recycling and reuse, energy efficiency, etc. The HOMERIZON
concept of single-family housing offers a new style of avant-garde living, based on renewable energies and environmental protection. It integrates in one place the various systems of renewable energy such as solar photovoltaic panels, windmills, fireplace with wood pellets, hot water and radiant floor heating by thermal solar panels, passive solar design, plumbing generator (electricity), exercise generator (power generator), recovery of rainwater, autonomous drinking water supply system, wastewater treatment and recycling. These systems will be managed by home automation. In addition to the optimal management of energy use, among others, the home automation system will offer members of the family judicious advice on how to save energy in the home.
HOMERIZON
offers lifestyles more in harmony with the environment. It opens the way, in the area of housing, on behavior change and how we design our homes. It proposes a "return" to values that are closer to nature. By its shape and configuration, the single-family home offers increased security and comfort. Through its central home automation system, this concept offers a living awareness of the daily consumption of energy.
Environmental
The location of this innovative and self-sufficient house will potentially
require public transportation (bus, train, etc.), so it can remain in harmony with the philosophy of the project and its concept.
The field location will ideally have a forest that will be protected and valued once the house has been implanted, in such a way
that it blends into the surrounding nature.
Cultural
This housing concept is part of a culture of energy efficiency and
environmental protection, through the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs). The house also respects Canadian residential
construction traditions through the use of materials such as aluminum, masonry (concrete, stone, etc.) and different types of wood
such as pine, maple and cherry.
Economic
The model for this innovative dwelling can have economic benefits for various people:
For the owners of the house, operation costs may be minimal due to its characteristics of self generation, high energy efficiency and hydric self-sufficiency, despite the higher cost of acquisition.
